Allied Knight Kit Star Roamer Short Wave Radio – Clean and Works

I am helping out with the estate of a good friend of mine who was a ham radio operator and collected vintage gear for many years.
I will be listing his equipment during the coming weeks and months.
Here is an Allied Radio Knight Kit Star Roamer in pretty nice condition and working.
Front panel is excellent with crisp lettering and original knobs.
The case has some scratches on the top and one spot where it appears something was left sitting on it and left a ring.
There are also two or three places where the paint has chipped off.
Although the case is presentable I would probably repaint it if it were mine.
Inside, the wiring looks good and the filter capacitor has been replaced at some point.
On the rear of the chassis there are a couple of black plugs that cover two holes.
I’m guessing, at some point in its life, someone may have used a Q-multiplier with this radio.
Looking further, it appears the speaker cone may have been repaired.
The audio sounds fine.
I tested this Star Roamer on all bands and it does receive signals on each one of them.
I had to use a signal generator on the upper shortwave band and the longwave band due to propagation or lack of signals.
Although it works, I’m sure it could benefit from an alignment and testing the tubes.
Please look at all of the photos closely to see exactly what you are getting.
The radio comes with a complete copy of the assembly and operating manual, a correction/ update sheet and an original assembly pictorial.
While I have described this radio as accurately as possible, please note that vintage tube radio gear is best enjoyed by those with an understanding of electronics and the ability/equipment to work on them.
This radio is over 50 years old and may require an alignment or other work to obtain peak performance.
This radio also has potentially dangerous voltages present and only an experienced and qualified person should attempt any repairs.
