Description
This Cable connects your laptop to
the MDS-2310 Radio’s 25db female communication port. The Cable includes
two adapters, and one 14ft Ethernet cable. The adapters are one female
DB9 to RJ45(which connects to your laptop), and one male DB25 to RJ45(which
connects to your Radio). If your laptop doesn’t have a DB9 serial port,
you will need to purchase a USB to Serial Adapter Cable which will provide you
with a DB9 serial port. Then you can connect this adapter directly to it.
Simply connect the DB9 adapter to your laptop, and the DB25 to the Radio. Connect the 14ft Ethernet cable to each
adapter. The RJ45 Ethernet Cable is a straight through cable, and can be
replaced by any straight through cable for additional length (not to exceed
50ft).; The cable must be a straight through meaning pin 1 to pin 1 through pin
8 to pin 8. The setup of this cable reduces the quantity of cable gear you
carry. I personally carry one straight through Ethernet cable and the two
Adapters in a separate pouch in my laptop case. When I am plugging into the
Ethernet network switches, I use this Ethernet cable. When I need to connect to
a MDS-2310 Radio, I just pull out my two adapters, connect them to this
Ethernet cable, and plug right in to the Radio! You will enjoy this quick setup
and easy storage. You will need to obtain the MDS Configuration Software.
I personally use Version 2.4.0 of the MDS Configuration Software with
this Configuration Cable to configure and use the diagnostic features on MDS-2310
Radios. You can get the software from GE. This Cable is not made by GE. I
personally make each cable and provide my personal email to each buyer if
technical assistance is needed. Each
cable is quality tested before being shipped.
