Description

This document has John Quincy Adams signature when he was secretary of state .  He was Secretary of State from 1817 to 1825 and was our 6th President of the United States from 1797 to 1801 . A fund was started in 1899 to raise funds for the purchase  and preservation of the Historic House in which the first Flag of the US was made for erection of a National Memorial in Honor of Betsy Ross . This certificate was purchased by Mrs. Theodore Schmidt of Mauch Chunk Pa. In 1936 a will was probated for Theodore Schmidt of Mauch Chunk Pa . H.A. Thomas Wyle is in the bottom right corner . Litho N.Y.  There are 2 cracks in the glass  photos 9-10 and it looks like there is some tears in the paper itself photos 8 & 11 .
I
buy most of my pieces at auctions, flea markets & yard sales so I don't know the history of the item.  I am not an antique dealer or expert.  I describe the item along with any flaws and markings I can find the best I can !!!!
